Charles Garnier's opera house opened in 1875 and is a riot of marble, gold and velvet. Climb the Grand Staircase, walk the mirrored Grand Foyer and, when no rehearsal is on, look into the red-and-gold auditorium with its ceiling painted by Marc Chagall.
