The tea ceremony (sado) is one of Japan's classic arts. In a tatami tea room near Gion, a tea master prepares matcha in the traditional way and explains, in English, the meaning behind each movement and the utensils.
Then it's your turn: whisk your own bowl of matcha and enjoy it with a seasonal Kyoto sweet. Choose the kimono package to wear a kimono for the ceremony and a short walk afterwards.
