Garni is the only standing pagan temple in the former Soviet Union, built in the 1st century on a ledge over the Azat gorge and its basalt 'Symphony of Stones'.

A few kilometres on, the UNESCO-listed Geghard Monastery has churches cut straight into the rock, famous for their acoustics.

  3. Carry your passport. Indian passport holders need an Armenia e-visa unless they hold certain other visas or residence permits – ask us.
  4. Prices shown are adult rates. Children's rates vary by tour – ask us before booking for a child.
  5. Hotel pickup, where included, covers hotels in the city centre. Pickup times are confirmed the day before.
  6. Bookings are valid only for the date on your voucher. To change the date, contact Plantenium before the day – changes depend on availability.
  7. Mountain roads, boats and outdoor activities can be affected by weather. If the operator cancels, you get a full refund or a new date.
