The Schilthorn summit starred in the 1969 James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and the 007 theme is everywhere – from the interactive Bond World exhibition to the Walk of Fame. The cable cars climb from Stechelberg via the car-free village of Mürren.

At the top, the Piz Gloria restaurant turns a full circle in 45 minutes, so the panorama of more than 200 peaks – including the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – passes your table. On the way down, stop at Birg for the Thrill Walk, a cliff-side path with a glass floor and a rope net.

      • Take warm clothes even in summer.
      • The summit is above 2,900 m – walk slowly.

      4. Swiss mountain railways and cable cars: children under 6 travel free with an adult, children 6-15 pay the child fare. Swiss Travel Pass and Half Fare Card holders should tell us – many excursions are cheaper with them.
      5. Bookings are valid only for the date on your voucher. To change the date, contact Plantenium before the day – changes depend on availability.
      6. Mountain trips, flights and boats can close for storms, strong wind or avalanche risk. If the operator cancels, you get a full refund or a new date. Summit views depend on the weather on the day.
