The classic Swiss mountain day. From Grindelwald the Eiger Express gondola lifts you to Eigergletscher, where the Jungfrau Railway – opened in 1912 – tunnels up through the Eiger and Mönch to the Jungfraujoch saddle.

At the top, step out onto the Sphinx Observatory terrace above the 22 km Aletsch Glacier, walk through the Ice Palace carved into the glacier, and play in the snow on the Plateau all year round. Many Indian visitors enjoy the Bollywood corner and the Indian restaurant at the top.

      • Trains run daily from about 7:00 AM; last train down about 5:45 PM in summer
      • Allow at least 7-8 hours from Interlaken

      Know Before You Go

      • It's cold and the air is thin at the top – take warm clothes, sunglasses and sunscreen, and walk slowly.
      • Check the live webcam on the morning of your trip; a clear day is worth waiting for.
      • The Jungfraujoch fare is lower with a Swiss Travel Pass or Half Fare Card – tell us if you have one.

      4. Swiss mountain railways and cable cars: children under 6 travel free with an adult, children 6-15 pay the child fare. Swiss Travel Pass and Half Fare Card holders should tell us – many excursions are cheaper with them.
      5. Bookings are valid only for the date on your voucher. To change the date, contact Plantenium before the day – changes depend on availability.
      6. Mountain trips, flights and boats can close for storms, strong wind or avalanche risk. If the operator cancels, you get a full refund or a new date. Summit views depend on the weather on the day.
