Hong Kong Museum of History
Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon, Hong Kong SAR
Free entry: the revamped 'Hong Kong Story' tells the city's history from prehistoric times to today, with a full-size recreated 1930s street and tram.
The museum's permanent 'Hong Kong Story' exhibition reopened in 2026 after a major renovation. Ten galleries trace Hong Kong from its geology and earliest settlers through fishing villages, colonial times and wartime to a global city.
Highlights include a recreated 1930s street with a double-decker tram and traditional shops, and thousands of artefacts – many on display for the first time. Free audio guides are available in English.
