Charyn Canyon cuts 150 kilometres through the steppe east of Almaty. Walk down the Valley of Castles between wind-carved sandstone towers to the Charyn River.

The standard tour also stops at the Lunar and Black canyons. The longer option leaves at dawn and continues to Kolsai Lake, a blue lake ringed by spruce forest.

  5. Hotel pickup, where included, covers hotels in the city centre. Pickup times are confirmed the day before.
  6. Bookings are valid only for the date on your voucher. To change the date, contact Plantenium before the day – changes depend on availability.
  7. Mountain roads, boats and outdoor activities can be affected by weather. If the operator cancels, you get a full refund or a new date.
